Scholarships & Awards
Each summer, GPSA recognizes outstanding swimmers and coaches through two special programs. These awards honor individuals who embody the spirit of GPSA swimming and give back to our community.

J. Kyle Hurdle Scholarship
For graduating GPSA seniors pursuing higher education
The J. Kyle Hurdle Scholarship honors a U.S. Naval Academy Midshipman who swam for GPSA before his sudden passing in 2001. Kyle exemplified determination and integrity both in the water and in life.
Award amounts:
- 1st Place: $800 (male & female)
- 2nd Place: $400 (male & female)
- Honorable Mention: $200 (male & female)
Total awarded annually: $2,800
To apply: Graduating seniors write an essay and submit through their GPSA Representative.
Kei Lamberson Outstanding Coach Award
Recognizing coaches who connect with every swimmer
The Kei Lamberson Award honors a beloved Marlbank coach who approached life with joy, compassion, and companionship. He made a point to connect with each swimmer and bring out the best in every individual.
Award amount: $500
To nominate: GPSA families nominate deserving coaches through their GPSA Representative.

How to Participate
- Swimmers: Talk to your GPSA Representative about applying for the Hurdle Scholarship
- Families: Nominate a coach who has made an impact on your swimmer
- Representatives: Encourage eligible swimmers and collect nominations from families
All submissions go through your team’s GPSA Representative to scholarships@gpsaswimming.org.
